A new housing program for homeless and former foster kids will open in Sussex County.
On Monday, June 9, Sussex County will formally open doors for a groundbreaking new housing program designed to address youth homelessness and assist former foster youngsters.
Life Lines South is the first supportive housing institution of its type in the region and is part of West End Neighborhood House's larger state-wide Life Lines program.
The refurbished former bed and breakfast, located at 11116 Shawnee Road in Harrington, now provides ten efficiency-style apartments for young adults aged 18 to 23 who are homeless or have aged out of the foster care system.
More than 140 people, including state senators, are expected to attend the grand opening celebration.
Life Lines South not only addresses a significant void in Delaware's foster care and homelessness support system, but it also provides services to a frequently neglected rural community.
The building is located in the heart of Delaware's Mennonite community, representing a rising dedication to tackling youth homelessness throughout the state.
Attendees will also have the chance to network with major partners in youth homelessness prevention efforts and hear more about the Life Lines program's growing impact.
